About

My passion is working with and empowering women. My psychological orientation draws from a number of mind and body theories and my twenty-five plus years of experience. I truly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship.  Healing happens in the relationship between client and therapist and I’ve been privileged to witness many such moments.

I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. My early years as a clinical social worker were dedicated to counseling women and their families at Planned Parenthood, Sexual Assault Services, Sheppard Pratt Health Systems and the Eating Disorders programs at both Mercy Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Hospital. I also presented workshops at high schools and colleges in the Baltimore area and co-developed and co-presented a continuing education workshop on self-care for social workers at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

My commitment to empowering women extends beyond the therapy space into social activism. In the mid ’90s, I  testified at the Educational Equity Forum of Montgomery County (Maryland) on the inequalities and inequities in education experienced by girls and women. My testimony is published in the document of the same name.

In 2001, I relocated to Philadelphia. My activism continued as I took on the role of volunteer organizer for V-Day Philadelphia in 2007 and 2008. V-Day is a grassroots global movement dedicated to raising awareness and money to stop the abuse and violence perpetrated on women and girls in their homes and their communities. I’m very proud to have contributed to this movement.

I moved back to Maryland in 2022 in order to be close to family. Licensed in both Maryland and Pennsylvania, I am able to provide tele-therapy in both states.

Sometimes I’m asked how and why I became a therapist. As my nest emptied, I found my way to my local community college. My first two classes  – Women’s Studies and General Psych – were life changing.  On the path of my own growth and healing, I felt called to help other women do the same. I’m also asked how I sit with the pain and problems that cross my office threshold daily. My response is simple. It’s a privilege. I am truly blessed to support my clients on their own sacred journey.

In addition to my social activism and my private practice in PA and Maryland, I provide crisis intervention and critical incident counseling services in the community.

A long-time participant in women’s communities and circles, I am also the mom of three daughters, themselves extraordinary women and the heart of my heart!
